The University of Bergen (UiB) is a modern, internationally recognized, medium-sized European University with about 18,000 students and 4000 faculty and staff. Yearly, around 250 candidates are awarded a PhD degree. According to U-Multirank’s 2019 edition, UiB is ranked among the 25 best performing universities in the world regarding the international orientation of study programs. UiB has been awarded 124 projects under Horizon 2020, of which 43 are coordinated by UiB. Under the Excellence Science pillar, 37 MSCA, 17 ERC projects have been awarded to UiB so far. UiB researchers receive professional support from a dedicated research support team consisting of advisers from different divisions like finance, research administration or communication during applications and for project management.
In Eat2beNice, UiB is represented by staff from the Department of Biomedicine (Jan Haavik and Berit Skretting Solberg) and the Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care (Liv Grimstvedt Kvalvik and Kari Klungsøyr). The main task that will be carried out in Eat2beNice is studying how the mother’s diet in pregnancy associates with impulsive and compulsive behaviour in the child, taking account of both genetic and environmental factors and their interplay. This will be achieved by using longitudinal data from the Mother, Father and Child Cohort Study, which includes both questionnaire data and genetic data.
