Institute Presentation
RUMC is a leading Dutch institute for medical research. The neuroscience research of RUMC is part of the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour (DIBCB), an excellent center for science and training in cognition-related neuroscience research in which over 600 researchers work at unraveling the mechanisms of the brain ranging from human cognition, clinical studies, molecular and cellular studies and computational studies. Three departments, members of the DIBCB, from the RUMC, are involved in Eat2beNICE. The Human Genetics department of RUMC, with over 430 employees, is an internationally top-ranked department and among the largest genetics research, clinical diagnostics, and genetic counseling centers in Europe. Research is performed by 26 Principal Investigator groups, with genetic/genomic neuroscience as one of the most important research focuses. The Psychiatry Department of RUMC has a strong focus on neurodevelopmental disorders – both in adults and in children and adolescents (in cooperation with the Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry Center Karakter). The Department of Cognitive Neuroscience is a renowned department researching the development and function of the nervous system with a special focus on sensory processes, neurodevelopment, stress and plasticity underlying environmental adaptation.
